feeble attempt at posting

my life still continues to be crazy and chockful of appointments and obligations. I don’t think I could get through all of this without the support and encouragement from my friends and family…this has been truly humbling.

The kiddo continues to amuse and surprise me. If I didn’t know any better, I’d begin wondering if we are indeed related. Not only does she dismiss my music, but she turns her nose up at Fruity Pebbles. What kid refuses Fruity Pebbles?!?!

perhaps the kind of kid who prefers Cocoa Pebbles, or thinks the various manifestations of Pebbles cereal is but a pale mockery of the various forms of Rice Krispies?

as wee lad, I thought Pebbles were gross. they got soggy too quick and i was left with chocolate (or fruity, despite my protests) mush. Ew. I was more of a Cinnamon Toast Crunch kinda kid.

heeh, you’re dating yourself Doc! I don’t think C.T.C was around until I was in middle school.
my ma only let us have cheerios and rice krispies. or the occasional box of alphabits. when I got to college I became addicted to Count Chocula. Don’t think I’ve ever eaten a bowl of Fruity Pebbles – elch. I’m with the Kiddo.

p.s. glad we’re all getting back to normal. my regrets to all again. B

    Yea! The posting has commenced!

Hmm cereal–since I’ve been hitting the diet and exercise regime hard for the past two months I’ve been pretty much on grapefruit in the morning–which has been so gooood. I ran out this morning and had to make due with some pineapple chunks, which was pale in comparison–and not satisfying. I don’t think I’ll be buying those again O_0
Cereal doesn’t last long in our house the kid almost always devours it for snack after school. But when I’m craving it I almost always reach for Lucky charms. There’s something thoroughly enjoyable about the sweet crispiness of the marshmellows–provided you haven’t let them get soggy. But then any cereal that gets soggy is pretty disgusting. Of course maybe I’m just sentimental about the charms–once when I was young–my dear older brother woke early one morning and ate all the marshmellows out of the lucky charms box. I had a sleep over and my mom had purchased this special cereal just for this occassion . Imagine my mothers shock and my disappointment when there were only cereal bits left in the box–to this day I think she still believes we just got a bad box.

Is it sad to say I still wish they made smurfberry crunch?

  5. 5 petitmuse September 25, 2007 at 9:46 pm

bets: we were only allowed corn flakes (blech), shredded wheat (i actually like it), cheerios, and occasionally wheaties. or honeycombs as a treat. fruity pebbles were my coveted treat, or capn crunch and fruit loops.

puppycup: that’s funny. we should write down the things guy did…i’m sure we all have all sorts of different memories. or was will the culprit? will used to buy all the good cereal with his yardwork money and sell it for 50 cents a bowl, or trade it for a game of checkers. heh.

doktor: i got some cocoa pebbles for her today. usually for her it’s raisin bran, kix, or cheerios. i thought she’d jump at the treat. she’s a funny kid.

well, there ya go: you’ve turned the Kiddo on to good, hearty, nutty cereals of the sort most people don’t develop a taste for until adolescence or adulthood, and then expect her to cheer for Artificially Flavored Rainbow Sugar Mush? My fave cereal these days is cracklin’ oat bran, but i have to only have a hadnful as an occasional snack, because cereal that instensely granola-fied and fiber-rich has Side Effects.

and bets is right: I was but Toddler Holocaust in the early 1980s. and I AM dating myself, but not getting anywhere with it as I’m pretty high-maintenance and old fashioned. I figure I’ll butter myself up with a trip to Olive Garden, maybe take in the new Cronenberg movie, and see how far I get.

Ha- it was dear will of course…the same culprit of taking all the Kris Kringles one christmas =)

    current fave:
Honey Bunches of Oats, Cinnamon Clusters

drooool. stays crunchy for an unnaturally long time 🙂

Cracklin oat bran, in my experimentation, stays crunchy almost indefinitely. I suspect it may be made of gravel. really tasty gravel.

My kids love oatmeal squares, which, sad to say, is my favorite dry cereal so I am always disappointed when it goes so fast. Luckily, they can be diverted with cookie crisp, fruit loops, and cinnamon toast crunch. I’m with Dok-cracklin oat bran is one of the best cereals ever. However, my favorite morning treat is oatmeal or cream of wheat-YUM!!!!

#5 – Check to see if all windows and Weber Gas Bbq air hockey games to play online are easy to unlock and open in an emergency. If you have a person in a wheelchair, bedridden, or walking with a walker or crutches living at home, develop a special plan. This family member needs a buddy system, an emergency pull cord, a phone by the bedside with 911 on speed-dial, an alert bracelet, or another strategy to get help in case of a fire (or another emergency).

#6 – Designate a family checkpoint outside the home. This checkpoint might be in the driveway, in the side yard, under a tree, or on the back porch. If everyone knows where to go in case of a fire, especially through practice fire drills, it is easier to determine who might still be inside the home during a home fire.
